Healthcare Accessibility
When people cannot access the health care they require, their vulnerability increases.
Access to health care services is important not only for promoting health, but for maintaining it, preventing and managing the disease, reducing unnecessary disability and premature death, and achieving health equity–without which vulnerable populations remain vulnerable around the world.
That’s why at WHI, we work to make sure that everyone has access to what they need for their health and wellbeing, whether that means ensuring they are able to get to a hospital by attenuating rural barriers or lack of transportation infrastructure; training community healthcare workers or supporting the education of medical students; building the capacity of local healthcare facilities, and alleviating medicinal supply chains in hard-to-reach locations.
