Caring for Children—More Completely

Our commitment to children has not changed. What has changed is how we support them—by strengthening families, schools, and communities together, so every child can thrive within a healthy, safe environment.

Your current support continues through this transition, and the care you’ve helped provide remains at the center of our work.

Children Remain the Focus

Every child currently in our programs will continue receiving care, education support, and protection through trusted local partnerships.

A More Equitable, Holistic Approach

This shift allows us to serve children more fully—ensuring no child is left behind because they were not individually sponsored.

Families and Communities Are Strengthened

We’ve learned that children thrive best when their families are supported, schools are equipped, and communities are healthy and safe.

Rooted in Partnership and Mission

Our teams continue working alongside local leaders and communities, aligning our support with World Hope’s mission of community-led transformation.
This is not a move away from caring for children—it is a move toward caring for children more completely.

Continue Your Partnership as a Hope Partner

For years, you’ve faithfully supported children through Child Sponsorship. As we enter this next chapter, we invite you to continue that commitment as a Hope Partner.

Hope Partners are part of World Hope’s monthly giving community—strengthening children, families, and communities through clean water, health, protection, and education.

A Simple Next Step

Your current Child Sponsorship gift will not automatically transfer to the Hope Partner program. We want you to feel informed and confident in choosing your next step.

Many sponsors continue giving the same or a similar monthly amount, providing steady support that helps our teams plan and respond with care.

When you enroll as a Hope Partner, we will automatically cancel your existing Child Sponsorship gift so you are not charged twice.

If you choose not to enroll, your Child Sponsorship gifts will conclude after March 31.

If you have questions or need assistance, please call 703-923-9414 or email childsponsorship@worldhope.org. We’re grateful to continue this journey with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know you may have questions as we move forward together. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we’ve heard from Child Sponsors. If you have additional questions, please email us at childsponsorship@worldhope.org—our team would be glad to help.

Will I still be able to write my child?

We will continue accepting letters to sponsored children through April 30, 2026. Here’s information for how to write to your sponsored child. We know this is a special relationship many of you have been nurturing for years and will pray for you as you send your letters. Moving forward, we plan on providing at least two opportunities through the year to send letters, photos and even videos, to communities of children our Hope Partners support, and we’ll be sure to share a response with you. The first opportunity will be around the beginning of the school year.

Will I still receive updates and photos of my sponsored child?
You will receive one final update and photo of your sponsored child in spring/summer 2026. After that, individualized updates will conclude. Going forward, we’ll continue sharing meaningful stories and updates on how your partnership is strengthening children, families, schools, and communities with opportunity, dignity, and hope.
How is Hope Partners different from giving to the general fund?
As a Hope Partner, you are committing to regular, recurring gifts to our Hope Fund, which allows us to plan ahead, respond quickly to needs, and sustain long-term programs for children and families. This steady support helps ensure our work continues without interruption. This program will actually strengthen World Hope in its entirety, which will then allow us to grow and scale the work we are doing in these communities across all our areas of water, health, and protection.
Can you direct funds to a specific country?
At this time, Hope Partners cannot direct funds to a specific country. As we lift administrative layers, which our Child Sponsorship program required, we can send a higher percentage of your gift directly to the field. We’ve talked philosophically about this shift, but there are also real benefits from a business perspective. Currently, Child Sponsorship is our only sustainer program supporting WHI. Which means the only recurring and consistent (month after month) gifts that we know is coming in and we can depend on is restricted to a very small part of our work. That’s just not sustainable for an organization nor does it make sense from a cost/benefit analysis. We can serve these communities better by removing our higher administrative costs associated with Child Sponsorship and moving to this model, as well.
Question for Pastor John: How are you leading your congregation through this transition?
As a church, we gathered our child sponsors together in a room and shared with them the vision of what this could be. A lot of questions were asked as a group as well as one on one conversation. The communication that World Hope sent was helpful. But ultimately this was easy for us because our visions still align. The vision for World Hope is not changing, it’s expanding. There’s no realignment that’s necessary for this transition. We’re still making a difference in those hard places and people grasp the vision and can see the fruit of what is to come.
Will all of the communities where children are currently being sponsored be supported when the change occurs?
Yes. We are not leaving the communities that we’re in, in fact we are expanding our reach to them.
Will my child still receive support?
Yes. Every child currently in our program will continue to be supported, as long as they are still living in these communities. If children move out of the area then we are unfortunately unable to continue to support them as they are beyond our reach. Children will keep receiving educational support, school resources, and family-centered care. Those in our special needs program will continue to receive therapy, family education, and assistive devices through World Hope’s Enable the Children program.
How are communities selected?
Our teams on the ground assess the needs of the different communities and they lead the way on these decisions. Some of the factors they are assess are: how many children are in need, what is the community leadership like, what are the needs for water, health and protection, and how are we best set up to serve these needs.
Will the amount we have been sending for child sponsorship be adequate for this new partnership?
Hope Partners commit to a monthly gift of at least $30. We believe this amount will open up the opportunity to partner with World Hope to a whole generation of young people passionate about getting involved. For Child Sponsors who have sponsored multiple children, more of their gift will go to the field. As our community of Hope Partners grows, we will expand our work in these communities.
Did you communicate with the sponsored children and their families about this change, and what kind of impact will this have on them?
We explained the change to the children and their families. We emphasized that the change is not a removal of support, but an expansion of the program so that more children can benefit. We reassured them that support for the children will continue through the Hope Partners program. The families understood and many responded positively because they saw that more children in the community will have the opportunity to receive support. They expressed that the shift to community-based support feels fairer and more inclusive. Of course, some children understandably felt sad about losing personal contact with their sponsors, especially those who had long-term relationships.
Will there still be any kind of personal connection to take the place of individual sponsorships?
Our team is working on a communications plan to help you feel informed and engaged in the work happening in each country. We cannot completely replicate that personal feeling of writing to an individual child, but our goal is to make sure you still feel connected to the work and the people whose lives are being changed.
When does the change to Hope Partners officially happen?

It has already started, and you can officially join Hope Partners now! Current Child Sponsorship recurring gifts will stop processing after March 30, so you need to make the switch before then to have uninterrupted support. Become a Hope Partner!

Will my Child Sponsorship gift automatically transfer to the Hope Partner program?

No. Your current Child Sponsorship gift will not automatically transfer to the Hope Partner program. We want you to feel informed and confident as you decide your next step. You can enroll in our Hope Partners program on our website, emailing childsponsorship@worldhope.org, or calling the office at 703-923-9414 to let us know. We will easily make that happen for you!

We already gave for a whole year of Child Sponsorship. Will those funds automatically transfer to the new program?

If you gave in advance for Child Sponsorship, that money will continue to be used to support children and there’s nothing that will change in terms of the support our children are receiving. If you’d like to continue as a Hope Partner and have your next gift scheduled for a future date (ie, when your annual gift would have been due for renewal), please call 703-923-9414 or email childsponsorship@worldhope.org to set this up because our website is currently unable to process this type of request.

Our church has previously given to small projects in our child's community to meet specific needs (ie, a bridge or computer center). Will we still be able to do similar projects that people get behind because they know what they are giving to and the impact it will have on the community?
Hope Partners will continue to complete projects like this as the needs arise in these communities and we will be sharing with you about these projects and their impacts.
Why is World Hope transitioning from Child Sponsorship to a community approach?
World Hope is evolving to better reflect our mission of community-led transformation. While child sponsorship has helped many children, our teams have learned that children thrive most when their families, schools, and communities are strengthened together. This shift helps ensure no child is left behind simply because they were not individually sponsored. By moving to a shared, community-based approach, more of each gift can go directly toward programs—allowing us to respond more flexibly and serve more children with greater impact.
What does a community ministry approach mean?
A community ministry approach looks at the full picture of a child’s life. World Hope partners with local communities to support protection, clean water, and health—so children can grow up safe, healthy, and supported. This includes access to education, protection from exploitation and violence, clean water and sanitation, and quality healthcare delivered alongside trusted local leaders.
